On Saturday, April 8, the Jefferson Arts Gallery opened the April art exhibit. During the opening, guests enjoyed refreshments from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m., as they browsed the newest exhibit in the gallery showroom. This month's exhibit was the 2023 Student Art Show. Students that attend Jefferson K-12 and students who currently attend homeschooling classes put their talents on display with the submission of nearly 40 pieces of artwork, ranging from a variety of mediums and subject materials. Students created works with pastels, paints and paper cuttings, and their art displayed a myriad of results, including detailed animal portraits, landscapes, abstract pieces, self portraits, and works featuring food items like pumpkin and corn.
The homeschool entries included works from students in the Parker and Brookins families. Young Isaac Brookins, who is in 2nd grade this year, was especially prolific, submitting 15 pieces of artwork displaying his many talents in mediums including marker, pastels, paints and paper crafting.
This exhibit was on display through April 26. The next gallery exhibit will feature the work of Terry Hughes, who will be displaying his paintings. This exhibit will begin on Saturday, April 29, with more information to come.
Regular hours are Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. additionally, you may call (850) 997-3311 to schedule an appointment. The gallery is located at 575 W. Washington St., in Monticello.
