Jefferson County chooses Trump
With the exception of three Democrats on the slate – involving two local races and a district one – Republicans on Tuesday swept the field in Jefferson County, as they did in much of the state, including Donald Trump, who won the presidency for a second time.
In terms of the six amendments on the ballot, two passed and four failed to receive the necessary 60-percent threshold, among the latter the ones on abortion and marijuana.
In the two local races and one district race that went to Democrats, the winners respectively were Angela Gray for property appraiser, Jackie Pons for school superintendent, and Allison Tant for State Representative, District 9.
