The new Mighty Oaks Wildlife Ecology 4-H Club represented Jefferson County in the Statewide 4-H Forest Ecology Contest on Saturday, April 15. Officials reported record attendance for this year’s event. The club worked hard to prepare for this event in a short amount of time. They studied five separate knowledge categories: tree identification; maps and compasses; forest health; forest ecosystems; and identifying wildlife on a hike.
This was the first year for the club, so we are especially proud of all of our members who competed. What an amazing accomplishment! Below are the individuals who were recognized in their division.
1st place Junior Individual: Dominic Graff
2nd place Junior Individual: Finn Feinberg
2nd place Junior Team: Dominic Graff, Finn Feinberg, Henry Feinberg and Lily Peary
2nd place Intermediate Individual: Gabriella Graff
3rd place Intermediate Team: Gabriella Graff, Jake Peary, & Adolai Scott
Special thanks goes out to the families and 4-H supporters who made this opportunity possible, and also to 4-H Programs Assistant Bryan Danford, who helped get this club going and is moving to Colorado. He will be missed.
