As you may have noticed, this year, what is generally known as the 4-H Tropicana Public Speaking Contest, or just Tropicana for short, is now known as the 4-H School Speech Contest, as Tropicana has decided to no longer sponsor the program. 4-H, not wanting the program to dissipate, chose to keep it going despite the loss of the sponsor and bought their own awards to present to the winners of this year's contest. There are a few levels to this contest, classroom, school, county, district and state; and two divisions, fourth and fifth-grade division and sixth-grade division. Each speech is judged by a panel of judges. Below we have the results for the Homeschool and Aucilla Christian Academy (ACA) first through third place winners for their school contests.
Homeschool school-wide winners
The homeschool group here in Jefferson County participated in this year's 4-H Speech Contest, and they produced some great speeches.
For the fourth and fifth grade division, Nicholas Brookins won third place with his speech "My 4-H Experience," Eddie Dorn took second place with his speech "The Matchless Mosquito" and Sylvia Peters went home in first place with her speech "The Amazing Lippizaner."
Over in the sixth-grade division, Tessia Brookins won third place with her speech "Camp Cherry Fake," Allie Dollar took second place with her speech "The Story of R.A.A." and Maggie Walker went home in first place with her speech "North Florida Citrus."
Congratulations to the Homeschool school-wide winners of this year's 4-H Speech Contest!
