$500,000 grant for A-Building continues to languish

A $500,000 grant that last year appeared to have been in the bag for the county’s continuing restoration of the A-Building, is now in limbo.
County Manager Shannon Metty not long ago informed the Jefferson County Commission that the county needed to reach out again to the state to see if the
funding could be revived.
The basic issue, Metty said, was that the county had to show the state that the project’s architect had been properly procured, so that the money could be released.
“What we’re hoping,” Metty told commissioners on Thursday evening, Jan. 4, “is that, either (a), the procurement was done correctly, or (b), we’ve been using t
