A Big “First” at The First

I recently opened a bank account at The First Bank of Monticello. I really enjoyed the experience. This is my first-ever bank account. While I was there, an employee named Miss Hannah Morgan showed me a real safe that weighed 6000 pounds, and an old calculator. I got to touch them both and I got to open the safe! I learned that the safe was called a “Cannon Ball” safe and that the safe and the calculator were both bought for the bank in 1906. A little history about this building is that it was opened in 1906. From 1906 to 2018 it was called the Farmers and Merchants Bank. That was where my mom opened her first savings account when she was a kid. In the year 2018 the bank became The Firs
