A ‘buy one, get one deal’ – Stephen and Stan Monroe

For those who have spent much time in Jefferson County, it can be easy, at times, to feel like you're seeing doubles, as Jefferson County is home to a surprising number of twins. Of those twins, Jefferson County is also home to Stephen and Stanton Monroe, who were born on Good Friday, April 4, 1958, in the building that now houses The Social Restaurant. In the '50s, the building was a doctor's office, where young Dr. Ward held a practice. Stephen was the first to emerge into this world, and was given his name immediately by his mother, who was completely unaware that she was actually pregnant with twins.
