With our bellies full to the brim with turkey, yams and the like, and our families on their way back home from this year's visit, one holiday may have finally run its course, but another is just around the bend! As we say farewell to Thanksgiving, it is time for many to begin final preparations for Christmas, setting up trees, stringing up lights, buying and wrapping gifts, and enjoying the many festivities of the season.
This Friday, December 3, Main Street Monticello is hosting their Annual Monticello Christmas Event. This year's theme is A Monticello White Christmas. While not many people in Florida ever have the pleasure of welcoming in a snowy
Christmas morning, the closest to which are the mornings our grass is coated in frost, and our cars need a quick splash with water to defrost in the morning before we can leave for work, there is certainly something to be said about Christmas lights and holiday cheer, and this year's event will bring all that and more! Join Downtown Monticello as it comes alive with holiday spirit, featuring a light parade, a vendor market, caroling, dining and the famous lighting of the tree! In addition to the many shops located in Downtown Monticello, you can finish up your holiday shopping with handmade, homegrown and handcrafted items in the vendor marketplace on Dogwood Street.
Come out and keep your inner Scrooge at bay with community, festivities and fellowship. The good time starts at 5 p.m. and will last until 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 3, in Downtown Monticello. The light parade begins at 6 p.m., with a special appearance from Santa himself. You don't want to miss it!
