A New Year’s history lesson

Every year, celebration after celebration is thrown and even filmed in some areas for the excitement surrounding the coming of the new year. But when did these celebrations first come about? Based on articles published on the History channel’s website (history.com), civilizations have been celebrating the beginning of each new year for at least four millennia. Various calendars have been followed for determining the day of which such festivities have taken place, but now, the Gregorian calendar is the most common. By using this calendar, New Year’s Eve is December 31, while New Year’s Day is January 1.
Various modern traditions surround this
