Arthur Robinson's Pecan Stand is something that is nearly impossible to miss. Located on Capps Highway, right between Lamont and Capps, the large, yellow pecan stand catches the eye immediately as you're driving by, and if you stop in you won't be disappointed.
Robinson, a native of Jefferson County, sells a wide variety of pecan related products, such as pecan pralines, pecan log rolls, toasted pecans, natural butter pecans, pecan brittle, and many more. Along with his pecan products he also sells peanut brittle, boiled peanuts, tupelo honey, fig preserves, pure sugar cane syrup, and mayhaw jelly, which his sister makes.
Robinson has been running his pecan stand on Capps highway for 43 years, but before that it was his brother who ran the stand. According to Robinson, his brother opened and ran the stand for 37 years before Robinson took over the business. When asked what inspired his brother to open the business, Robinson replied that he's just “always done it” and that's what Robinson said of himself as well. “All my brother's, they do the same thing,” he said, sharing that he has two other brothers who also have stands that they run off of I-75.
Tradition is something that, nowadays, seems to be dying out, but Robinson is working hard to keep the tradition of his pecan stand alive so that we can continue to get the delicious natural butter and salted pecans he makes, as well as all the other amazing products he sells.
