On May 7, Aucilla Christian Academy held its Annual Dance Recital, just two weeks before the much-anticipated Graduation Day. This year's recital, called “Battle Cry,” was performed by a total of 49 students, led by dance teacher Tonya Benziger, who met students throughout the year during their P.E. period, just one day a week, adding up to less than 30 total hours of practice. Nevertheless, these students gave it their all, and put forth an outstanding performance!
The theme verse for the recital was Ephesians 6:11, “Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.” Younger students danced to a number of songs, including, “Run Devil Run,”“Thank you Lord,” and even earned much applause to the fun tunes of “I Will Survive,” by Gloria Gaynor.
“I simply couldn't wipe the smile off my face!” exclaimed Tonya Benziger, “But when our sophomores took the stage, they raised the barre (pun intended!)” The older students performed impressively to songs, “Don't Tread on Me,” and, “Heaven Help Me.”
“Their performances...absolutely took my breath,” continued Tonya, “ I am still getting compliments on this group, two weeks after the show!”
Tonya says that this year's Recital performance was an important one for her, as she feels that, “As believers, we can't deny the spiritual battle we are in, especially for our children. It's so easy today to lose our kids to the secular world when it comes to music.”
“I remind our dancers at Recital that we have an audience of one. If He is pleased, everything will be beautiful and we will fly like eagles. Boy did they! They took their God-given gifts and not only lit up the stage, but the entire auditorium! I couldn't be more proud.”
Congratulations to the performers of the 2022 Annual Recital for Aucilla Christian Academy!
