On Friday, Feb. 14, four Aucilla Christian Academy (ACA) freshmen competed in the Capital Regional Science and Engineering Fair in Tallahassee, at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center. The ACA students that competed included Samuel Kennedy, Connor Koch, Lillie Schwier and Carolyn Shaw.
Of the four students competing, two students received awards for their projects. Lillie Schwier's project, “It’s 3D” won first place in the Intelligent Machines, Robotics, and Systems Software category and Carolyn Shaw's project, “Three Little Pigs of Global Warming” won second place in the Environmental Engineering category.
When asked about how the fair went, ACA science teacher, Terry Bennett, shared: “These students experienced a wide range of interviews from university researchers, state and federal scientists, and retired educators. The last time our school competed in the Capital Regional Science and Engineering Fair was 13 years ago. I am very proud of their energy, creativity, and dedication to present their findings in a very competitive format.”
ACA is very proud of these students and their excellent work. ACA would like to say thank you to all those who supported these students as they competed and for Mr. Bennett’s help in leading them.
