Young actors of Monticello recently transported their audience from the realm we live in to the magical world of Mikkletopia in an original play that was performed last week, on Friday, July 24 and Saturday, July 25. On that weekend, the young actors and dancers with the Monticello Acting & Dancing Company (MADco) presented The Adventures of Lucas The Human – a show that was written, arranged and choreographed by several locals.
During the show, the audience met Lucas, who is the only human in the land of Mikkletopia. Lucas knows what it feels like to be different and he sets out on a quest with his new found friends, the Wizard, Stanley the Chicken and Fairy Princess Sparklebreath, in a mission to defeat the evil Gargon and his Gremlins. Throughout the play, the cast of characters learned that it's better to be yourself, not who you pretend to be.
The script for this production was written by Jefferson County's Abigail Boyd and Benjamin Britton, with Boyd also writing the original music and lyrics for the production. Tod Barnard provided additional music and arrangements. The hip hop dances were choreographed by Naomi Lamarche and Black Stallings, with further music, stage and choreography direction being provided by Melanie Mays. Various art for the show was provided by Abi Benoit.
