If you are a high school senior, college freshman or college sophomore, and you plan to pursue a career in agriculture, pay attention! Farm Credit of Northwest Florida is offering a scholarship of up to $24,000, and the application to apply is now open.
This scholarship will cover $3,000 a semester for eight semesters total towards a student's tuition during their four-year undergraduate degree. In addition to this, Farm Credit will also provide a paid internship during the student's junior or senior year of college. Those pursuing a field in production agriculture, ag education, ag economics, agri-business or another field related to agriculture are eligible to apply.
In a press release, Farm Credit of Northwest Florida stated, “We are AgVocators, meaning that we actively support the well-being of agriculture and rural America. The scholarship will be awarded to an individual based on their involvement in agriculture, their rural community, academics, leadership qualities and their passion for being a voice for agriculture. We offer scholarships to invest in the future of agriculture and help prepare today's youth to become tomorrow's leaders. Our desire through our scholarship program is to encourage new AgVocators to use their talents to create better communities where they live.”
The deadline to apply is Feb. 23, 2024, at 5 p.m. CST and 6 p.m. EST. A copy of the application can be accessed by visiting www.gorural.net.
Farm Credit of Northwest Florida is part of the nationwide Farm Credit system. They provide financing for agriculture and timber operations and support businesses that are related to the farming industry. They also specialize in lending for purchasing, refinancing or construction of rural land and homes. They serve each of the 18 counties that make up the Florida panhandle.
