American Legion Otto M. Walker Post 49 has begun selling chance tickets for its annual fundraising effort, a Gun Raffle, with the winning ticket to be drawn during Veterans Day weekend. On Monday, Nov. 12, the breakfast will be prepared and served to area veterans, recognizing them for their service to our country. This too is an annual event held at the post home, 1065 South Water Street in Monticello. The drawing will be held during this event. The ticket winner does not need to be present to win, but all ticket purchasers are invited to come for a good meal and to welcome and thank some of Jefferson County's veterans. The grand prize drawing is for a Mil Spec AR15, custom built by Robinson Gunworks, in Monticello. The gun features include: 16” carbine .556 NATO 1/9 twist melonite treated barrel, melonite treated m16 bolt and carrier group, forged upper and lower, 13” keymode hand guard, six-position buttstock, mil standard trigger, hand-polished and lightened, rifle finished in Cerakote O.D. Green, pop-up iron sights and 30-round mag. The actual cost is $1,200, and tickets are being sold for $5 each. For ticket information contact Post Commander Ken Faircloth at (850) 509-2628.
