Amos Ferrell Hobbs age 71 of Tallahassee, Fla., passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 28, 2021, at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Pavo, Ga. on Sep. 27, 1949, to Amos and Betty Hobbs. He began working in the telecommunication’s industry in 1971 and retired in 2015 with more than 40 years of dedicated service.
Ferrell was a devout Christian and loved serving the Lord in many roles through the years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Woodville and served as an usher and greeter for many years. He was a tireless and selfless volunteer for those less fortunate. Ferrell was extremely talented and loved to work with his hands. He was an unsung hero to many people through the years with his many woodworking skills. He lived his life to serve others. Ferrell always enjoyed a nice fishing trip with friends or family. He was a kind, quiet and gentle man who was a fantastic husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Ferrell will be missed but never forgotten.
Ferrell was preceded in death by his father, Amos Alexander Hobbs; a brother, David Hobbs and a sister, Ann Secord.
Ferrell is survived by his loving wife Kay Hobbs; his mother, Betty Hobbs; his children, Michelle Grizzle, Terri Cooke Wileman, Jennifer Hobbs and David Hobbs; sisters, Helen Lewis (Ikie) and Sherrell Dill (Ron); eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2021, in the First Baptist Church of Woodville with Dr. Trent Gann officiating. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, face coverings should be worn by attendees while indoors and social distancing practiced as recommended by the CDC.
