An open letter to those fighting cancer

“You have cancer.” Those words would tend to take the wind out of anyone’s sails. Yet most, if not all of us, know someone who has heard those words, if we have not heard those words ourselves. A friend of mine just heard those words recently – one of many over my years in ministry. Having experienced cancer in loved ones and those I care about, let me share that I firmly believe that while cancer might invade the body, it does not have to invade the soul.  Let me suggest that your greatest enemy is not the disease, but despair.
