Andrea Rachel Goldiner Boland passed away peacefully on Aug. 12, 2022, in Tallahassee, Fla.
She was born on December 9, 1947, in New York City, to Alex and Sarah Goldiner. She was raised in the Inwood section of Manhattan and attended George Washington High School and Hunter College.
After teaching in Catskill, N.Y., Andie moved to Tallahassee to be near her sisters, Jill and Maxine. She soon moved to Monticello in Jefferson County where she taught at Howard and the Adult School for many years. Early on, she was active in the teacher’s union and fought for better wages for teachers.
Finally settling in Wacissa, she met and married the love of her life, Charles Boland. Together they were fabulous parents for their daughter, Sarah Ethel Boland, who was the light of Andrea’s life. Andrea loved her new home.
She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed trying out new recipes for her husband and daughter, which they always enjoyed. Andie loved spending time with her family, sitting on her front porch with a good book, working in her garden, feeding the birds, and watching old movies with her little dog, Max, in her lap.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Maxine Stern; and brother-in-law, Jerry Stern. She is survived by her husband, Charles; daughter, Sarah; stepson, Justin (Kynada); grandchildren, Jeshua, Azarah, and Kynza; sister, Jill Sandler; nephew, Bayard Stern (Rachelle); cousin, Pat Dixon; and many other nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at Beth Page Cemetery, on Beth Page Rd, in Wacissa, Fla., on Thursday, Aug. 18, at 11 a.m. Family will receive friends an hour prior to that, at 10 a.m., at the cemetery. Those who wish to remember Andrea in a special way may make gifts to Big Bend Hospice.
