
Another above-average hurricane season predicted

Early forecasts are out for the 2025 Atlantic Hurricane season, which officially begins June 1, and indications are that it will be another above-average in activity, if slightly less active than last year.
Colorado State University’s (CSU) tropical meteorology project team released its first seasonal outlook on April 3, forecasting 17 named storms, nine of them hurricanes and four major hurricanes of Category 3 or higher.
The 2024 season, by comparison, had 18 named storms, 11 of them hurricanes and five Cat-3 or plus hurricanes.
