ARI continues summer youth program

Throughout the month of July, the Aucilla Research Institute (ARI) has been hosting a free summer archaeology program for children from Jefferson County and neighboring counties. Students have been working with real artifacts from the site of a kitchen outbuilding at Trelawn Plantation, a Drifton plantation originally built in the 1830s. Homeschooled students and students from Jefferson County K-12 were present on many of the dig sessions to uncover artifacts.
Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday during the month of July, students come to the ARI office (555. N. Jefferson St.) from 10 a.m. until noon to assist in the preservation and analysis of artif
