The Florida Department of Revenue is having a Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday from Saturday, July 31, to Monday, Aug. 9, to celebrate students and teachers returning to school. Consumers can purchase back-to-school items that qualify. This event was passed by the Florida Legislature and signed into law by Governor Ron DeSantis.
Sales for this event include most school supplies selling for $15 or less, clothing, footwear and accessories selling for $60 or less and the first $1,000 of computers and accessories when bought for personal use.
The tax exemption does not apply to the rental or repair of qualifying items. It is also invalid for items purchased at any theme park, entertainment complex, public lodging establishment or airport.
More information about the Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday, including list of examples of items that are exempt, can be found on the Florida Department of Revenue website at https://floridarevenue.com/backtoschool/Pages/default.aspx.
