Barbara Jo Colson, 61, of Sevierville, Tenn. and formerly of Monticello, passed away Friday, Oct. 29, 2021.
She was born Oct. 17, 1960, in Monticello, Fla., the daughter of Willie and Evelyn Reams. She attended Rickards High School and graduated in 1978. She retired from the State of Florida’s Department of Finance. She was a longtime member of Elizabeth Baptist Church of Monticello. She moved from Monticello to Sevierville, Tenn., where she resided with her husband Bill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Drayden Reams and Evelyn Johnston Reams; and sister, Theresa “Reesie” Murphy.
She is survived by her husband of 20 years, William “Bill” Dairman Colson; daughter, Christina Fountain Young; son, Johnny Fountain Jr.; son, Jason Fountain (Katie); daughter, Stephanie Fountain (Jason); son, Justin Fountain (Gail); 11 grandchildren: Desiree, Jackson, Chase, Hunter, Kaleb, Riley, Haedyn, Paxtyn, Hayley, Alex, and Loryn; sister, Bonnie Brannan (Randy); brothers: Butchie Reams (Amanda) and Walter Reams (Kimberly); and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Barbara was well loved and adored by those who knew her. She was a beloved wife, a cherished Mama, and most especially a treasured Grammy.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in honor of Barbara to Smoky Mountain Hospice. Donations may be sent to 7051 Strawberry Plains Pike, Knoxville, TN 37914.
Family and friends will meet at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2021, in Atchley’s Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens for graveside service and interment with chaplain Jim Yeary officiating. Online condolences may be made at www.atchleyfuneralhome.com.
