Bear sightings in Lamont keep residents on their toes

Heather Ainsley  ECB Publishing, Inc.  Since the end of April, residents that live in the area surrounding Nash and Cook Rd. in Lamont, Fla. have been on high alert regarding the presence of a 300-400 lb black bear. The bear has reportedly been seen several times by various citizens, meandering along roadways, in wooded areas and even in residential properties.  “The bear walked within 50 or so feet of my front door,” says Ashley Stalling, who lives in the area. “He went down toward my goats and eventually ambled off.” Before this recent sighting, Stalling says the bear had been seen rummaging through trash on her property, having climbed into the bed of the pickup truck
