When picturing the city of Monticello, the first thing that comes to many people's minds is the iconic image of the Jefferson County Courthouse. It serves as the divider between North, West, South and East, as people traveling from all different directions will encounter the stately white courthouse during their travels. There is also the sight and sound of the bell tower on top, which jovially rings out the passing of the hours. The clock is illuminated at night, a beacon for both those who are only passing through and those who are coming home.
