Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological diseases in the world – around 50 million people around the globe have epilepsy. It is characterized by chronic seizures, which are short episodes of involuntary movement in either parts of the body or encompassing the entire body. Epilepsy can be caused by a wide range of factors, and that can make it a mysterious condition to contend with – treatment for epilepsy consists of controlling the seizures, but once the seizures are under control, it can be very difficult to pin-point the direct cause of them. This can leave patients feeling frightened and frustrated.
