The District 5 County Commission seat occupied by the late Stephen Walker is no longer vacant. Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed Benjamin “Ben” White to the office on Friday, Dec. 15.
“I’m appreciative and honored to be appointed,” White said on Monday, adding that he was still processing the news. “We’re going to do what we have to do.”
A county native and Waukeenah resident, White is co-owner of WW Cattle, LLC, a 500-acre ranch off Dutton Road, south of U.S. 27, where he raises cattle, corn and hay, as well as doing fences and electric gate work, among other things. He also serves as the president of the Jefferson Cattlemen’s Association
