Betty Joe Flatt, 69, passed away on May 14, 2022, in Monticello, Fla. She was born on December 12, 1952, in Baker, Fla., the daughter of Alonzo and Mildred (Courtney) Spencer. Betty moved from Madison, Fla., to Monticello in 1967. She attended Ebenezer Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with family, going to the beach and collecting shells, working puzzles, and she had a special place in her heart for animals. She also loved angels, the Gators, Harley Davidson motorcycles, and was a big Elvis Presley fan.
In addition to her father, she was predeceased by first husband, Buddy Champion; second husband, Jimmy Lee Flatt; and daughter, Ellen Marie Champion. Survivors include her son, Tyler Champion (Pamela); daughter, Michelle Baker (Johnny); mother, Inez Spencer; sisters, Irene Watson and Louise Jenkins; grandchildren, Casey Strickland, Kaylee Champion, and Carmen Champion; and great-grandchild, Arianna.
There will be a graveside service at Oakfield Cemetery in Monticello on Sunday, May 22, at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends afterwards at the home of Tyler Champion. Arrangements by Beggs Funeral Home in Monticello.
