During the month of December, Big Bend Hospice (BBH) sponsored a fundraiser for patient care services here in Jefferson County. All money raised in the county stays in the county and is used to treat patients here.
The fundraiser was done via an ornament sale, called the Tree of Remembrance. There were three sites in Jefferson County, the First Bank, Carrie Ann & Co. and Oh Happy Day Gifts, where the fundraiser was set up. In each location a full-sized Christmas tree was displayed and as residents donated money or bought an ornament, an ornament was placed on the tree with a handwritten tag commemorating a loved one.
BBH, to thank the businesses that helped them with this fundraiser, gave out plaques thanking the three businesses for their participation. They also thank the community, as this past year the Christmas trees in Jefferson County were beautiful due to the generous donations of the community. Over $3000 was raised to meet the needs of hospice patients in the county.
