A bill being considered in the current legislative session would expand the number of hours that 16- and 17-year-olds could work, and it would also allow minors 15 years of age to work for specified hours.
House Bill 49, which is titled Employment and Curfew of Minors, would remove employment restrictions for minors 16- and 17-year-olds, revise the ages at which certain employment restrictions apply, and require curfews adopted by county or municipal ordinances to include certain exceptions.The bill, if approved, would allow 16-and 17-year-olds to be employed the same number of hours as a person 18 years of age or older.
