Bill would term limit county commissioners

County commissioners in Florida will be forced out of office after their second term, if a bill introduced in the House of Representatives for the next session is approved.
House Bill 57, titled County Commissioner Term Limits, would go into effect on July 1, 2024, if approved.
The one-page bill states that no person may appear on the ballot for reelection to the office of county commissioner if, by the end of his or her current term, the person will have served eight years in the position. The provision applies no matter if the county is a charter and its charter is more lenient.
For non-charter counties where no term limits are imposed, terms of of
