Billy Gene Windham, 89, of Tallahassee passed away Monday, Dec. 7, 2020.
Billy was born Oct. 5, 1931 in Pike County, Ala. to Effie May and Alex Windham, Sr.
He is an Air Force Veteran and retired as an Aircraft Mechanic with Eastern Airlines.
He was a Mason for 55 years Jackson #1, Order of Eastern Star Chapter 119, and he was a great story writer, and poems was his specialty. He also enjoyed working in his yard, driving his tractor and farming.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Windham; sons, Garry (Kim), and Galen (Raena) Windham both of Tallahassee, and Scott (Karen) Windham of Hutto, TX; brothers, Willard Messer (Linda) of Rehoboth, AL, James Windham (Delores) of Headland, Ala., Lee Windham (Anna) of San Antonio, TX, Johnnie Windham (Jan) of Dothan, AL, brothers-in-law, Ed Bruce (Marie) of Ellijay, Ga., and Larry Kelly (Lydane) of Elberta, Ala.; grandchildren, Jessie, Jared, Jackson, Jason (Christy), and Devin Windham, Ariel Poppell (Chris), and Tommy Campbell; and a great-grandchild, Kinzee Windham.
Billy is preceded in death by his parents, Effie May and Alex Windham, Sr.; a grandson, Matthew Windham; his beloved stepmother, Louise Tice Windham; brothers, Alex James Windham, Jr., W.C. Windham, Leon Messer, and Billy Messer.
