The Monticello Police Department (MPD) opened an investigation after responding to a burglary alarm at a local boutique in downtown Monticello last weekend.
MPD officers responded to the burglary alarm at Soulshine Vintage boutique at 195 N. Jefferson Street that went off on Sunday, May 26. The MPD press release said the officers who arrived on scene found all accessible entry points to be secured.
“The key holder later arrived and found a rear door entry point within the secured area to have been breached,” the press release said.
Soulshine Vintage is located near the corner of N. Jefferson and W Dogwood, next to Wag the Dog Thrift Store and Penny Lane Emporium. Soulshine has been a part of the Monticello community for almost 7 years, since they opened in November of 2017.
MPD investigators working on the case developed leads that have helped to identify a suspect. The MPD is asking for any additional information that could help assist the case and are asking citizens with information to contact the MPD at (850)342-0150 or Big Bend Crime Solvers at (850)574-TIPS (8477).
