Building activity remains steady

Although not as brisk as it was a few years ago, building activity remains relatively steady in the county, according to the latest report from Building Official James Kaufman, head of the Jefferson County Building Department.
Kaufmann gave the Jefferson County Commission an update on the local building activity on Thursday morning, Aug. 1.
His report spanned the four-year period from 2021 to 2024, touching on the permits issued only for mobile homes, single-family dwellings and accessory structures. Overall, the figures showed small variations in all three categories, he said. Insofar as the 2024 figures, Kaufman noted that the numbers were incomplet
