Johnston's Meat Market has been a staple of Jefferson County since its opening in 1926. Nearly a century later, it holds its position as a cherished local business as they continue to expand the services they offer to the community.
Johnston's Meat Market began as a grocery store operated by Felix and Alice Johnston, which also offered meat locker rentals for members of the community who did not yet have access to refrigeration. As time went on, and their services expanded, Johnston's was passed into the hands of their daughter, Felice, and their son-in-law, “Cap” Shuman.
