American Legion Post 49 is very sorry for the cancellation of the Veterans Day fireworks display and program caused by the threat of Hurricane Eta. Two days prior to the event, Hurricane Eta was forecast to make landfall in Jefferson County, it was at this time that organizers made the decision to cancel the event. It takes a lot of planning and setup to put on an event such as this. Though Jefferson County was spared the wrath of Hurricane Eta, there was no time to re-organize the event by the November 11 date.
American Legion Post 49 thanks Jefferson County, the City of Monticello and the business community for their financial contributions to the Veterans Day fireworks display. The funds collected will be held for the July 4, 2021 fireworks display and program. A special thanks to Richard Connell and G-FAST for all the work they do, ECB Publishing, Inc. for the advertising and support, the Monticello Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce for its support and Robert Morris.
A special thank you also to the Patriot Level donors of $1000 to $5000, including the Jefferson Board of County Commissioners, the City of Monticello, Simpson Nurseries and the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Major Pickens Bird Camp 1327.
