On Thursday, Dec. 29, associates of Capital City Bank hosted a farewell party in honor of Geri Ann Driggers, who is retiring after a long and enjoyable career with the company. Driggers has spent the last 42 years working for Capital City Bank, and retired from the position of Assistant Vice President and Community Banker/loan officer. During the retirement party, Driggers was greeted by family, friends, current and former co-workers, and clients that she has served over the years. One client even drove over two hours just to come and see her, wishing her warm wishes for the chapters of life that lie ahead.
When asked how she feels about coming to the end of such a long and well-connected career, Driggers says the feelings are mixed.
“I really enjoyed seeing everyone,” she said during a phone interview the day after her retirement party, her last day with the company. “But, it was really emotional. A lot of it was spent trying to hold back tears! I feel like I'm losing part of my family, my work family. So I'd say it is definitely mixed emotions.”
Driggers describes her 42-year career as “awesome,” and admits that while it may seem like a long time to stay with the same job, the years have also seemed to go by very fast. Out of all the things she will miss about this life-long career, she says that she will miss her co-workers and clients the most.
“It has just been a wonderful experience,” says Driggers. “I have learned so much, and it has just been amazing. I've grown so much over the years, and have really enjoyed helping members of the community, and making financial dreams come true.”
Driggers admits to having no set plan for her retirement, and says she looks forward to spending more time with her family and grandchildren and getting things done around the house that she previously hadn't had the time for. She even mentioned continuing a chalk painting furniture project that she started but never finished.
Members of the community may miss her smiling face as they come into Capital City Bank each week, but Geri Ann Driggers will still be quite active in her community. As a current board member for the Chamber of Commerce, she assures the people of Monticello that she will still be involved in local happenings.
As her career comes to a close, we here at the Monticello News wish Geri Ann a very happy retirement! Congratulations!
