Missionary Carrie Jones Soria was born March 13, 1953, in Monticello, Fla. to the late Leo and Elizabeth Anderson Jones. Carrie's loving and caring spirit along with her infectious smile will be missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing her. She was a very sincere person and always shared her warm heart with everyone she encountered.
Soria accepted Christ at an early age and joined St. John Primitive Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. John Barker Sr. She later joined Church of God of Prophecy Monticello under the leadership of Pastor Lee Green. Soria attended the Public Schools system in Jefferson County. Early in her career, she worked many years for Simpson Nursery and then went on to work for Monticello Nursery where she was currently employed.
She leaves to forever cherish her love and memories, a devoted husband, Antonio Soria of Monticello; her one and only son, Joseph J. Herring Jr. of Monticello; a sister-in-law, Martha Ann Jones of Monticello; a special niece that she loved and raised as her daughter, Annie (James) Thompson of Monticello; two special grand nieces, SSG Jakara Brooks of Fort Bragg, N. C. and Azaria Morris of Monticello; one uncle, Lacey Jones of Tallahassee, Fla.; one aunt, Annie Mae Jones of Monticello, Fla.; a special dedicated cousin and best friend, Evangelist Miner Brookins of Monticello, Fla. along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.
Carrie was preceded in death by her parents, Leo Jones Sr. and Elizabeth Anderson Jones; brothers, Cleve Jones, Leo "Pie" Jones Jr. and William Jones; two sisters, Fannie and Rachel Jones.
Hagan Funeral Service, located at 175 N. Railroad St., Monticello, Fla., is in charge of the arrangements. Public viewing will be 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, 2021. Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021, at Hickory Hill Cemetery off Bassett Dairy Road in Monticello. Hagan Funeral Service adheres to the recommended CDC safety guidelines, face masks are required, social distancing and capacity limitations are recommended at all times during public viewing and graveside service.
