With the permission of the Jefferson County Recreation Department and Park Director Mike Holm, a park-goer created a chalk alphabet and hop-scotch obstacle courses for herself and for the pleasure of anyone else wanting to use it.
Jenny Santiago thought this would be a great way to get more kids out to exercise, yet remain socially distanced.
Sidewalk-chalk-artist Santiago is a Home-Visitor for Healthyways, Inc., a local non-profit organization dedicated to early learning. Healthyways sponsors the Parent-Child Plus program.
Another of Santiago's colorful obstacle courses, a log jump, can be found on the walking trail at the park also.
Sadly, the recent rains have probably washed the sidewalk games away by now, as chalk doesn't stand up well against rain.
The Recreational Park is a wonderful place to get out and exercise in for those looking for something to do. Especially now when work is slow and activities are few because of the Coronavirus pandemic.
