The Monticello Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce held its first Blood Drive on Friday, Aug. 14 in Monticello, in partnership with OneBlood.
“What a great blood drive!” exclaimed Chamber Executive Director Katrina Richardson. “We did much better than expected for our first blood drive.”
She shares that 23 people were registered to make a donation; 11 people were first-time blood donors; and 19 units of blood were collected. Those 19 units will potentially save up to 57 lives.
Participants not only “Shared the Love” in blood donations, they also received a free “thank you” gift and a COVID-19 antibody screening.
OneBlood needs continued support to help ensure a ready blood supply. Every blood drive is important and every blood donation is crucial.
The Chamber has scheduled its next Blood Drive for Friday, Oct. 16. Call (850) 997-5552 to schedule an appointment. Go to oneblood.org for more information about making a donation.
