This Friday, Oct. 16, the Chamber of Commerce will be holding a blood drive! If you would like to come and donate blood, stop by right across the street from the Chamber, in the Baptist Church's parking lot. They will be available for donations from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Along with your blood donation, they are also giving all donors a OneBlood Halloween T-shirt, a free dessert, with a purchase, from the Rev Cafe (which expires 60 days after the blood drive) as well as a wellness checkup, including COVID-19 antibody testing, a blood pressure check, a temperature check, an iron count, pulse check and cholesterol screening.
You must have an ID to sign up for a blood donation. Please do not come to donate if you have a fever. You must wait at least 24 days before donating if you have been exposed to COVID-19, have recently been tested and are pending test results for COVID-19 or if you have a confirmed, active case of COVID-19.
This is the second time the Monticello Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce has hosted a blood drive. They started doing it to help give back to the community by giving them a way to give blood; they alternate monthly with the First Bank to host the drive so that there is a place to go and donate blood monthly in Jefferson County. You can only give blood once every 60 days, so you can go to the other if you miss one.
Appointments are encouraged, so to sign up to donate, please visit: donor.oneblood.org/donor/ schedules/drive_schedule/976867.
