At 6 p.m., on Thursday, July 30, the Monticello-Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce will be holding a Political Forum that will be broadcasted virtually for citizens of the county.
Since COVID-19 restricts public gatherings, the meeting will be broadcasted live, via the chamber's Facebook page.
In order to help citizens further know the candidates who will be listed on the upcoming ballots, the chamber is asking local voters to email in questions that they wish to ask the candidates.
These questions will be collected in advance and then presented to the candidates during the Facebook Live forum.
The forum is designed to give candidates a public opportunity to share their platform with Jefferson County voters. Each candidate will be allowed a three-minute “stump” speech when their elective seat is being debated, and then a two-minute closing speech along with all of the other candidates at the close of the forum.
So far, this forum will include discussion between the Jefferson County candidates for local seats such as Superintendent of Schools, County Commissioner and School Board Member.|
Any citizen who would like to submit a question to the candidates, which will be asked during the Facebook Live stream, can do so by emailed Chamber Executive Director Katrina Richardson at info@monticellojeffersonfl.com.
The forum will be moderated by Ron Cichon, so candidates who need more information about the forum are asked to reach out to Cichon either by calling (850) 997-7441 or sending an email to rc1102@embarqmail.com.
