Dear Editor,
After watching the live feed from school board meeting I was honestly very disappointed with the behavior of some of our elected council members. For someone in a position of power to act so unprofessional and act with such poor character just baffles me.
What a lot of people didn’t know is that a three-year-old boy was injured at the pageant due to the run-down conditions of the auditorium. That three-year-old was my son. He slipped on this way out of the pageant on the right stage stairs. The carpet on the stairs was soaking wet and he fell and hit his head against the concrete wall corner. We later found out he was suffering from a concussion and he had a large knot on the left side of his head. He had just won the pageant but was unable to enjoy it because he was in so much pain.
This incident was brought to attention at the meeting but was so easily over-looked and brushed off. I didn’t see any remorse for what happened to my child. I only saw hate and focus towards the newspaper, instead of the real issues.
I am writing this to be a voice for my son as none who should have cared seemed to care about him or how bad his injuries could have been. I want to say thank you to the members of the pageant who did take that time to check on my son after the incident.
As a citizen of this county I am truly disappointed and hope that someone can take a stand and demand a change because there seriously needs to be one.
Thank you,
Chyanna Johnson
