County officials recently approved changes to the bylaws of the Local Mitigation Strategy (LMS) working committee, a group that works to promote strategies and projects to reduce the risks to life and property from natural, technological and man-made disasters.
The group also is responsible for formulation of the local mitigation plan, which identifies the natural hazards that may affect the city or county and assesses the risks and vulnerabilities, as well as identifies the actions to reduce losses and establishes a coordinated process for implementation of the plan.
