Christopher Michael Harmon, 45, Assistant Chief of Public Safety at the New Orleans Superdome, died Monday, July 26, 2021. He was born November 16, 1975 in Tallahassee, Florida and raised in Ft. Pierce Florida.
He is survived by his parents Tom and Linda Harmon of Monticello, Florida; Grandmother Elaine Harmon of Toledo, Ohio; Uncles: Rockie Pennington (and wife Jeannette) of Tallahassee and Chuck Harmon (and wife Cris) of Las Vegas, Nev.; aunts: Cheryl Morgan of Tallahassee and Mary Pennington of Monticello; and many loving cousin and friends.
He was predeceased by his grandparents: Harold and Frances Harmon and Harold and Violet Pennington; uncles: Dan Harmon, John Pennington and Billy Pennington; and cousin: Jenny Harmon.
Chris graduated in 1994 from Westwood High in Ft. Pierce, Fla. and he studied at Indian River Community College and University of Central Florida in Orlando, Fla. During his two years at UCF he played intramural Rugby and traveled with the team all over the United States.
He began his career with Contemporary Services Corporation (CSC) while he was in college, working his way from part-time entry level to Director of Operations at the Orlando Branch. After 16 years in Orlando, he transferred to the Los Angeles Branch to be the Event Manager at the Forum. He left CSC in 2018 to become the Assistant Chief of Public Safety at the Superdome with ASM in New Orleans, La.
Chris enjoyed his work over the years coordinating sporting events, concerts, festivals and many other events. He enjoyed his co-workers and making new friends wherever he went. His love of sports, especially football, led him to a lifelong pursuit of understanding the game. He was team Florida State University all the way. He loved his Seminoles and Bobby Bowden.
A memorial service will be held at the Superdome for his co-workers and friends in New Orleans, La. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 13, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Monticello Fla. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contribution may be made to First United Methodist Church Youth Group, 325 W. Walnut Street, Monticello, Fla., 32344 or Chris Harmon Memorial Scholarship c/o Aucilla Research Institute, Inc. 555 N. Jefferson Street Monticello, Fla., 32345.
