Dianne Knecht has been an active member of the Monticello First United Methodist Church since her marriage in 1966. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Monticello before that time.
Her major involvement in the church now is with the Funeral Sisters. She helps with the preparation and arrangement of meals for the family members who have lost a loved one.
She is also available to help those in need of a service, such as a ride to a doctors appointment, or the grocery store, or just in need of a visit from somebody.
Knecht is also involved in the Wednesday evening meals held in the church fellowship hall. She helps on one of the cook teams with preparing and serving meals.
She is very-much involved in the Singles Ministry, a service that is open to community participation.
“My church is like a family to me,” she shares. “They've helped me though some tough times.”
Knecht is the mother of three grown children and the grandmother of six granddaughters. She grew up in the Ashville area and is kin to the Hunter and Fulford families.
She worked for the School Board administration for 38 years before retiring in 2010. She graduated from Jefferson High School and meets monthly with her former classmates.
Knecht continued her education by attending North Florida Community College, where she earned her Associates of Arts degree.
In her “me” time, Knecht enjoys cooking and reading, and on Friday evenings she can be found dancing to the music at the Monticello Jamboree Band, at the old high school.
