Angie Perry was born and raised in Chicago and has been a member at Central Baptist Church in Aucilla since 2016. Angie and her husband, Bob, have been married for 30 years and “it's been fun,” Perry said. Perry has two wonderful adult children, her daughter, Lisa, lives in Michigan, but Perry hopes that Lisa “will move a little further south.” Perry’s son, Stephen, lives in Lamont and owns Flatwoods Cafe. Perry is the proud grandparent of three beautiful granddaughters. Paige, the oldest grandchild, is currently moving back to Lamont from Orlando; Brooke, the middle one, has stayed in Monticello, while Elizabeth, the youngest, is just starting college in Michigan.
In 2007, after 20 years as a grant specialist, Perry retired from FSU. “I surely don't miss driving to Tallahassee every day,” she laughed. Now, she helps out by doing the baking and special requests at Flatwoods Café in Lamont.
Perry is active in the choir at Central Baptist Church and “loves praising the Lord with music.” She sees it as her responsibility to reach out to others to know Jesus as their savior. As a child growing up in the Windy City, Perry was raised Catholic, but got involved with the Baptist Church after marrying her husband, Bob. The best thing about her church involvement is that she thinks highly of the church’s pastor, Darryl Adams, and his ability to teach the Bible. “I love my pastor, his family and my whole church family; it's such a loving church,” Perry said. Central Baptist is involved in giving Christmas shoeboxes, Good Samaritan Ministries, and food drives. When not at Flatwood’s or church, Perry loves to “cook, garden and help my family.”
“It is well with my soul” is her favorite hymn and her favorite passage of Scripture is Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.” Perry loves living in Jefferson County and said, “I do a little acting at the Opera House to help raise money to restore that beautiful old building.”
