Citizen offers $75,000 toward construction of new animal shelter

A citizen has stepped forward and offered to donate $75,000 toward the construction of a new shelter for the county’s animal control operation.
Wendy McCarrick addressed the Jefferson County Commission on Wednesday evening, Jan. 17, concerning the current animal control shelter at the main collection yard of the solid waste department on South Jefferson Street and Waukeenah Road.
McCarrick didn’t deride the shelter’s present condition, saying that she understood that the county was fiscally constrained and that the operation was doing the best that it could under the circumstances.
