City boasts best drinking water around

Monticello residents can take pride that their public drinking water ranks among the best in the North Central Florida region, based on its taste, color, odor and clarity, if the results of a recent competition are any indication.
Interim City Manager Steve Wingate recently shared with the council that the city had been named runner-up in the 2024 Best Tasting Drinking Water contest, an annual competition held on Nov. 15 by the Florida Section of the American Water Works Association (FSAWWA).
This year’s contest winner was Talquin Electric Cooperative, and in third place was the City of Tallahassee.
