Monticello may switch to using gallons instead of cubic feet to measure customers’ water usage. City Manager Kurt Mackiewicz broached the subject to the Monticello City Council at a recent meeting.
“We are one of the few cities still using cubic feet,” Mackiewicz said, noting that the change would largely be a clerical one.
A cubic foot, he explained, equated to about seven gallons of water, something that was difficult for most people to understand.
