City council makes headway in manager search

Guided by Mark Ryan, a senior advisor with the Florida City and County Management Association (FCCMA), the Monticello City Council recently made some key decisions in its pursuit of a new city manager.
Foremost among these, the council upped the salary range to between $85,000 and $100,000; made allowance for experience to substitute in lieu of a higher education, although the latter is preferred and the experience must be in utilities management or its equivalent; and it expanded the requirement for government experience from solely municipal to government in general in order to cast a wider net.
